Primary Vs. Endo – Question to the Diabetics. January 5, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — singlewhitediabetic @ 3:17 pm

I hadn’t seen my primary care physician in a long time until this week. I didn’t really feel like I needed to since my see my Endo every three months and get blood work done that often. He mentioned while I was in his office that I should also see him every three months. ?!? I assumed I should see him once a year. Anyone else see their PCP that often?

The PCP and the Endo/CDE have agreed (at my suggestion) to alternate my 3 month visits. The A1C is done at each visit and then shared with the other physician, along with any other bloodwork/labwork.

I see my primary care about two weeks before my endo. According to my insurance he is the only one who can order my bloodwork because he is in network and my endo is not in the same network. So, I see both about every three to four months.
